SUMMARY: Responsible for operating the front desk of the property during the day and evening hours. Greeting all guests in a friendly and professional manner.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists guests upon arrival and departure. Handles the check in/out process swiftly and accurately
Coordinates the delivery of guests service by other hotel departments and outside buisinesses.
Process all incoming and outgoing reservations and cancellation requests in a tomely manner via phone, computer, and in person.
Handles department accounting of monies, reciepts, guests accounts and other forms of credit.
Maintains information and communication sources such as room racks, information racks, and log in books.
Operates switchboard equipment to handle incoming calls, outgoing calls, and the paging of guests.
Understands in-house computers and monitors computer accuracy to ensure maximum occupancy.
Examines reservations daily for correct date, type of room reserved and any special requests. Set-up reservations using folio sheets and files these by date of arrival.
Complies with the hotel`s security and emergency procedures.
Complies with all corporate office policies and procedures.
Maintains order and cleanliness of the front desk area.
Provides assistance to other employees.
Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires ability to stand for entire shift, walking to a significant degree. Must have ability to communicate both orally and in writing to guests and other members of the front office staff, and to answer telephone calls: talking, hearing. Requires ability to perform repetitive tasks (e.g., working on a computer screen). Requires ability to lift up to 50 pounds infrequently (several times weekly).
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Indoors, protected from the weather but not necessarily from temperature changes.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
Job Specific- Requires familiarity with applicable front desk standards and procedures. Must possess knowledge of operations pertaining to front desk: reservations, telephone services and guest accounting.
Basic computer skills: can perform fundamental tasks on a computer.
Effective Communication: can communicate in a timely, effective, and appropriate way in person and through various apps.
Time Management: must be able to work in restrictive timelines and execute job roles accurately to avoid rework.
Teamwork and collaboration: every employee needs to accommodate the views and opinions of other team members, be teachable, and capable of mentoring coworkers based on strengths.
Adaptability: Respond quickly to changes in routine and schedules.
Requirements:
18 years of age or older
High School graduate or equivalent
Valid and current driver license
Reliable transportation
1 year experience in front desk operations or related field.
