How far is it and how to get there?

There are two ways to get to Duck - driving and flying. The closest international airport is in Norfolk, VA (ORF). After landing in Norfolk, you will then head south on NC-168 and US-158 where you will drive over the Wright Brothers Memorial Bridge. When you get to the road signs pointing to NC12 North, you will turn left. Continue on Hwy 12 N (also known as Ocean Trail) and you will get to the quaint town of Duck. (If you go further north, you will eventually get to Corolla.) Follow NC12 north until you see the sign for the resort. (If you choose to go on NC 12 South, it will take you to the towns of Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, and Nags Head.)

Barrier Island Station's policies include:

• All guests must be at least 21 years of age to check in to the resort.

• Children under 12 years of age must be accompanied by a parent at all times.

• Children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by a parent when using the fitness center, sauna, and steam room.

• Pets are not permitted anywhere on or on the resort property.

• Our resort is a smoke-free establishment. Smoking in a designated non-smoking area is subject to a fine.

• We do not cash checks or accept out-of-country money orders.

• DO NOT hang swimwear or towels over the deck rails.

• There is no grilling, cooking, or open flames allowed on the unit decks.

YES! There are several grocery stores located nearby. These include Wee Winks Market and Tommy's Market both in Duck (.5 mile); Food Lion (6.5 miles); Harris Teeter (6.5 miles); and Wal-Mart Supercenter (6.5 miles) - all in Southern Shores.
