K9401 Sound Life

Our family gathered for Thanksgiving and early Christmas. Everything was perfect! Check in was easy, instructions clear. As far as the property, it is clean and very well kept. The kitchen is perfect for large meal prep and cooking. The layout gives everyone space to spread out or gather for family game night or football and pool. There is a centrally located fireplace for the cooler months, beautiful and functional. The family was able to walk right out front to fish and watch an amazing sunrise. The location is extremely peaceful and private but only a few miles from shopping, and a short drive to get to the Ocean. Such a well maintained home to make memories!! We are sure to return.

The house and property are absolutely beautiful! The private pier was very cool especially with all of the lights on it at night. The woodwork in the house was beautiful! The view of the water from the enclosed porch is breath taking! We found several great restaurants nearby! It was a nice peaceful getaway. We will definitely be back again!

This beautiful Sound life home was perfect for our family of 9 and we all loved the sunporch, game room, pool and hot tub!! All the outdoor furniture is well built and awesome!!! Location was nice and quiet and the public boat landing right in front of the property wasn't too busy and it was neat to see the different boats coming and going...The town Grandy was just a short car ride away with all the groceries, restaurants and whatever else we needed ...Outerbanks was fun lots to do and the kids enjoyed parasailing and the Wright Brothers park/museum etc...the negatives we found were dirty utensils, pots, pans in cabinets in kitchen, the fridge in garage smelled awful we had to clean it in order to use it but very convenient to have!! The rugs in upstairs bathroom were filthy and stained and shoved in the cabinet Other than that we loved the home and all the amenities it offered I highly recommend it and we would definitely stay here again!!

Stay at "Sound Life". Nice property, just a few things to note if you have kids and love the beach. Kitty Hawk is 25 minutes or so away to access the beach, we didn't enjoy being that far away from the beach. Since this property is on the sound side and has swamp next to it, so can smell the rotten egg smell as soon as you walk outside of the house and especially when you are at the pool. The house itself is beautiful. If you own a boat or jetski then this is a perfect house for you since the boat ramp is right next to the house. But overall great property!

The place overall was great. Inside, it had everything that you wanted. Outside, it also had everything you really wanted with the salt water pool and hot tub. Jet's don't work on the hot tub and at night and the bugs are so bad you really can't be outside. Other than the bugs at night (which we just spent the time inside in the game room, etc.) the place was great.

Amazing view and beautiful home
This house was perfect for our family vacation. The pool, hot tub, and view were amazing. It has something for everyone. We fished off the pier and paddleboarded in the Sound. By far one of my favorite places I rented on Airbnb. The location is awesome, we loved the experience of the area and the darkness at night you can see a ton of stars while listening to the frogs and wildlife. We had a few issues but as soon as we reached out to the host the issues were dealt with quickly! The pool and hot tub are salt water which was awesome. The only issue is the hot tub doesn’t have powerful jets or any bubbles and the waterfall doesn’t work. The dock was awesome day and night we brang jet skis and a boat that we kept there our whole stay. Be aware of the seaweed in the sound jetskis don’t like it lol fishing and crabbing off the dock was awesome. No complaints about the house what so ever we actually extended our stay to enjoy it longer. Can’t wait to book again next year.

House-
The home was stunning and clean and felt very private with high end finishes. It had everything we needed in the kitchen. There was a continuous beeping sound on day one but we notified Kees and they came out very quickly and fixed it. It is worth noting there is no “community” restroom downstairs and the two bedrooms downstairs and upstairs share a bathroom. All bedding and towels were provided.
Pool-
The pool was amazing, clean with high end furniture and the pool guy showed up to show us how to use the heated hot tub and how to turn on the pool lights for the evening. He was very friendly and helpful.
Location-
It feels very private at the house, there is a public boat ramp that a handful of people used throughout the day but didn’t bother us at all. Feels safe. There are two driveways and plenty of room for parking.
“Beach”-
There is a small “beach” area but it is completely unusable as the water is very shallow and filled with grasses/weeds so you can’t really swim off the beach or pier. At least we didn’t.
Overall we loved it and would stay again!

Peaceful & relaxing vacation on the sound. The views were amazing! The home owners have a lovely place! We were not able to fully use the second floor bath. Maintenance came out the next day to repair, unfortunately it was not fixed. After expressing our concerns, Kees did rectify the situation.

Perfect Sound Retreat

Beautiful and Relaxing
We have stayed here twice and can't wait to be back. This house has everything for a great, relaxing getaway. The pool is perfectly sized for a family escape, while the game room offers just enough fun plus views of the sound, sunset, and boat ramp activity to keep everyone entertained. The house is very well kept, the views are gorgeous, and there are just enough places nearby to stay entertained if you want a change of scenery.

We loved everything about this place! The only thing I would say is that we had problems with the WiFi strength and they weren’t able to fix it since it was due to an outage. They did tell us that it happens often, so if you need to work remotely this may not be the best location for you. Other than that this place was amazing and had everything we needed plus some!

We just returned from our stay at Poplar Branch. This was our first airbnb experience, and overall this property did not disappoint!
Pros:
The house looks just like the pictures on the listing. The exterior is gorgeous and well landscaped. Sits at the end of a quiet road (there is a boat access parking lot right next to home. We didn't have any problems with people coming and going, but it is something to be aware of).
The house is very spacious and provided ample space for my family of 4 (22-year-old son and 8-year-old daughter).
The view of the sound is very picturesque with beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Most rooms in the house provide a nice view.
The screened-in porch is decorated in coastal decor, is very clean, and provides plenty of seating/tables to enjoy breakfast/lunch/dinners.
There were 3 bathrooms and 4 bedrooms. Upstairs there are two bedrooms (one has two twin beds and the other has a king.) There is a shared bathroom in the middle. Downstairs there are two queen bedrooms, with another bathroom (I would say the nicest bathroom is this one).
Great wood detailing throughout the home.
The kitchen is very open and well laid out. We did a lot of cooking in and the property is well equipped with everything we needed to cook various meals (2 coffee makers (comes with some coffee pods, but also can use your own K-Cups), utensils, pots/pans/baking sheets/waffle maker, blender/bowls, plates, glasses, wine glasses, coffee cups, etc). Just be sure to bring your own aluminum foil, cooking oils, spices.
The garage has a hammock, gas grill, and large ice maker that was a nice touch.
The living room is very clean and has very comfortable leather couches to relax in. They also have lots of books, games, crayons for kids of all ages.
The pool area is very clean and has a beautiful stone hot tub. The pool is unheated, but the hot tub is heated. Note, the jets are not super powerful. The pool guy showed my husband how to adjust the heat and was very friendly.
The game room is located on the top floor and has a great view of the sound. There is a pool table, foosball table, sink, and bathroom with shower in this room. It's a great space to hang out and play.
The private pier is another nice touch! It's a great space to sit and relax or take photos. We didn't have a boat, jet ski, or kayaks, but you can do all that from there as well.
The laundry room is conveniently located downstairs and was nice to have.
Location:
It's a nice quiet location, but it's not too far from various attractions (approximately 15-30 minutes to all the places we visited). We visited Duck, Kitty Hawk, Nags Head (Jockey Ridge State Park (sand dunes), Duck Donuts (which are located at various locations), Corolla (Currituck lighthouse, wild horses on the beach), Kill Devil Hills (hubby wanted to try Kill Devil Hills Rum and there is a distillery that offers samples, rums, and pecans, which is technically located in Monteo), and we went to Bodi Island to visit the Bodi lighthouse.
Cons:
Security cameras are throughout the outside of the property (3 cameras aimed at the pool, hot tub area), which wasn't listed on the description and In my mind takes away from the private feel. Also, cameras located in the screened-in porch area and outside deck, which prevented us from using half the space where the cameras were aimed. I find it hard to relax, which is the purpose of a vacation when there are cameras aimed at you and you have no idea who is watching you! I think this should have been disclosed. There is an in-law suite or another section of the home that is off-limits that the owners must use. We didn't see them during our stay.
The upstairs bathroom was an issue. It's the only bathroom that doesn't have a walk-in shower, but rather a jacuzzi tub, with a shower. The jets were really gross and hadn't been cleaned properly. I used a container of wipes to clean the bottom of the tub to feel safe using it. It's extremely hard to get in and out of. Unfortunately, given the dynamic of our family, we found ourselves using the king upstairs and having our daughter using the bedroom next to us. This left us with this bathroom. I would have much rather used the one our son had downstairs. I would suggest an overhaul of the tub area which is separate from the vanity area. In fairness, I didn't notify Kees upon arrival as were exhausted after driving for many hours of the dirty tub. However, I'm sure they would have sent someone out to clean it if I had.
The Wifi was an issue as it's very spotty. Our son is in his final semester of college and had remote Zoom classes to attend and found it challenging. He wasn't able to access wifi from his bedroom downstairs and it didn't work upstairs either. It works fine if you're sitting at the desk next to the dining table, sitting at the dining room table, or in the game room. FYI, very slow at the pool area.
The property abuts a swamp area that leads to an issue with snakes. We saw two snakes near the pool (they have a hole right behind the pool shed). Once my husband told me he had seen one (he waited as he knows that they are my greatest fear), I notified Kees and they were very responsive and sent someone out. The guy wasn't able to find any when he was there. One was very long and black and the other one was brown.
If your looking for a nice spacious home that offers great views, your own pool, and hot tub, and is close but far enough away from the hustle and bustle, this property is

This property is a great getaway on the Currituck Sound. Our family of 7 (grandparents, parents and grandkids) loved the space the home provided as well as proximity to the Sound. It allowed us to kayak and fish all while being in an easy driving distance of OBX. The property was very clean and the kitchen had everything we needed to prepare
meals. Everyone loved the hot tub and covered porch. A few things to note:
House is somewhat isolated and is directly adjacent to a public boat ramp at the end of a somewhat sketchy street.
We had many nights with random cars racing down the road and parking in the middle of the night next to the property
which was unsettling. Minor repairs need to be addressed. Overall great house.

The house “sound life” was wonderful and had everything we could want. We cook in for families dinners and the kitchen was completely equipped for that. Private pier with gazebo and swimming pool are very nice . It was a fun and relaxing getaway for us.

This home is as advertised. Pool and juccuzzi were clean working the entire time. There kitchen is gorgeous and fully stocked to cook anything you desire. Each room had clean linens and smelled and looked clean. Host was responsive to all messages within 30 mins or less. Loved it.
