We loved having the beach so close - lovely to walk down with morning coffee - and go back again to swim, and even take a walk on the beach at night. The house was great - loved the fire pit and outside dining table. We relaxed on the comfy couches and hammock in the “under the house” shaded rec area - very nice! AC was great, and the master bedroom so beautiful. The layout is user-friendly - from gates on the decks that were helpful with the dogs, to the outdoor hose for rinsing sandy feet.

Awesome location 3 min walk from uncrowded, beautiful beach , where we could walk the dog and just hang out by the waves in the chairs provided. The location is close to markets, seafood stores, cafes, restaurants, ice cream stands, and sunset by the boardwalk. House is great, especially the shaded rec area under the house, with hammock, couches, corn hole games, and a cool bar made from an old row boat. The master bedroom is beautiful and everything in the house was sparkling clean. We could have used a bigger dining area with 5 people, but the outside table on the front deck was lovely for breakfast. The fire pit was easy to use and great fun, and the gates on the decks were helpful with the dogs, as was the hose for rinsing feet! The AC and fans were very appreciated. Truly this was an awesome house to base our first trip to Duck from! Surely we will be back!

A hidden gem
The photos and description really don’t do this place justice. It is beautifully decorated, in a quiet neighborhood with a two minute walk to the pretty beach. The owners have made such efforts to consider the comfort of the guests. Lots of outdoor seating areas, very comfortable beds in all the rooms. Comfortable sofas and chairs.Plenty of towels and storage. We’ll be back again for sure, but a longer stay next time.

On a beaucoup aimé la maison et son emplacement. C’était très plaisant de pouvoir marcher jusqu’à la plage. La cuisine était bien équipée. Seul petit bémol : internet n’était pas fameux. Il fallait passer par un site internet pour se connecter tous les jours, ce qui devenait agaçant.

Perfect location for an off season getaway. The new owners have done a fabulous job on the renovation and update. Loved being in a dog friendly house. However, a permanent resident on the street has a territorial dog and the owner doesn’t not clean up after his dog…fyi
Two less than stellar issues, the wireless is through a Kees website. Annoying to have to sign in everyday. Also, the basic Kees paper supplies did not last the week and there were no refills. While the kitchen gear was well thought out..no salt and pepper .

This house is perfect for a family vacation! It's a short walk to the beach and the neighborhood is peaceful, with other renters all around, eager to say hello. The outdoor living room means you can stay outside to snooze in the hammock, play foosball, or read a book on the couch without risking the sunburn. The porches are dreamy and we enjoyed the July 4th fireworks from the house. The house has everything you need, the beds are cozy, and you'll find all your kitchen needs met.

Great Accommodations !
This property matched the needs for hosting a multi-generational family beach get together. Beach access was relatively easy. The ground level with decking floor with seating was open and quite useful. The bean bag and old foosball table helped entertain children while the open area facilitated a three year old’s use for his trucks! Thanks!

The house is very cozy and is a lot bigger than it appears. It's a short walk to beach. Bonuses: 2 dishwashers, outdoor lounge area under the house with hammock, sectional, fooseball and cornhole, fire pit & grill, nice outdoor decks with seating. We didn't take our dog, but pets are allowed and the owners created a nice fenced area for pets.

Such a lovely home! Check-in/out was so easy, simple, and straightforward. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes, pots/pans, utensils, and appliances. The views from the home's 3 decks are wonderful and the sound of the ocean can be heard all day/night. The downstairs/under house hang out area is so cool! We loved the hammock, and took quite a few post-beach naps there under the fan. Only thing that would finish off the downstairs area, and make it more than amazing, would be a hot tub! But even without that, it was a super cool area that would make for a fun family/friends gathering!

Only 3-4 houses from the beach, so a very short walk! The house didn't appear to have any chairs or umbrellas for guest use, but the listing also didn't indicate that there were, so we made sure to bring our own chairs/umbrella/wagon. It ended up being super hot while we were there, but because it was still early in the season, the ocean was freezing! So the beach was a little uncomfortable from the heat and we wish we had packed a bigger umbrella for more shade (that's our fault for not planning accordingly!).

The outdoor enclosed shower was out of commission, and looked like it was currently being used for storage, so we were a bit bummed about that. Hopefully that would be available for guests when it's more "in-season".

Overall, we loved our stay, and the house was SO adorable and comfortable - felt like we walked into our own home as soon as we arrived! It's far enough away from the center of town to be quiet and quaint, but close enough to drive in, or even ride a bike if you'd like a longer bike ride. If we ever find ourselves visiting Duck again, we'll definitely look to see if The Mist a Spot is available - and bring our bikes with us!

This was our first trip to Duck, and this house could not have been better for us. Even though the weather wasn’t great, the closeness to the beach and easy bike ride into Duck made our stay enjoyable. This house has everything you need for a weeklong beach trip and enough indoor and outdoor space to entertain your family or friends. We will be back!

This cottage is adorable! It is very well decorated with many unique items. The proximity to the beach is great. This unit is a very good value. The common spaces inside would be a bit tight with 8-10 persons; however, all of the bedrooms are perfect. We had a wonderful week!

Perfect location to the beach although we didn’t get to see the beach due to the weather we definitely got our money’s worth of the outdoor porch amenities. The gas fire pit was perfect, nice amount of seating for large group of people. Spacious inside. The porches are a nice touch which balcony’s to sit on and overlook the water in the morning and drink coffee, watching the sunrise.

We were pleasantly surprised to find 'Mist-A-Spot' had availability for our weekend and quickly made the decision to book. There are good hosts and there are great hosts ; Kees is great as a host as the communication in the days leading up to the trip was spot on. All questions were answered super promptly and in a professional manner (including pet related). I ended up cancelling my trip at the last hour due to a CV situation in my family but the communication lines were always open and the refunds were amicable. Will definitely rent with Kees at the next opportunity !

This beach house had everything as advertised, and more. Very clean and well stocked home and perfect location three houses away from a beautiful beach. We wanted for nothing, and everything around check in was easy. Very nice grill and outdoor/ under house lounge area. Coffee pot and blender also were nice touches. Comfortable beds and linens. We’d absolutely stay again. One thing to note if coming to town: restaurants and shops having a very tough time staffing up. Going out was not a great experience, and would recommend planning most meals at home until time goes by to staff up.

It is so well-appointed and cozy and their kitchen was well stocked with all the equipment we needed to cook -- even sharp knives which is often not the case in rentals! You can hear the waves from the house and the front porch was so great for dinners and morning coffee. We've bookmarked this home for our next visit to OBX!

A charming beach house with a quick minute walk down the street to the beach! The house has everything you’d need for a beach vacation and then some! We loved all of the outdoor space from the three different decks that the house has and especially loved cooking on the grill! The house is very clean and recently updated with spacious rooms. Would absolutely stay here again for future OBX trips!

The house was beautifully decorated, very clean, quiet and friendly neighborhood, and a minute walk to the beach. Unfortunately, the insect issue put a big damper on our trip. There were large ants all over the house and the occasional 3 inch roaches. We had to spray the house with raid and constantly vacuum to get the ants under control. The host’s response time was very quick, but the pest control company took a few days to show up. The pest control guy was very nice and explained that this is typical for older houses surrounded by so many trees. We had to keep our food and belongings either in ziplock bags or in the car to avoid insects getting into our things. The house is so amazing that if the insect issue can get under control I would definitely recommend staying here!
