The Salty Mermaid was a nice location, pretty close to the beach. The place itself was very clean and had everything we needed. The only thing recommended is to bring extra toiletries/paper towels and your own beach towels and chairs. Kees was pretty quick to respond when we needed clarification on things. Really liked staying here and would stay again!

We’ve had the opportunity to stay at the Salty Mermaid on several occasions and we have never had a bad time. The cleanliness of the property is always top notch. As one who travels a lot, cleanliness is extremely important and Kees is on top of it. Also the check-ins are nice.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at ‘The Salty Mermaid.’ It was very clean and layout was perfect for a family of four. It was decorated thoughtfully (we enjoyed counting up all the mermaid decorations around, unseen in the pictures). The air conditioning worked great (even with the humidity) and there was good water pressure/plenty of hot water to go around. The outdoor shower was enjoyed (though could have been cleaned a bit better) and the front porch was enjoyed every evening for happy hour, which mom and dad definitely awaited each day. We enjoyed being within a short walk to Dowdy Park where we enjoyed the playground, the farmers market, and the pickleball court. Having the beach cart to stroll to the beach was definitely appreciated. We chose a couple beach entrances away (~ a 10 min. walk) to be close to a lifeguard. It would have been nice to have more staples in the house though we knew that going in. We hope to come back to OBX and would definitely stay at ‘TSM’ again!

This was such a beautiful house - we were all pleasantly surprised! It was perfect for our family. A close walk to the beach and parks, plus the beach cart, chairs, sand toys, and umbrella were very helpful! We would definitely stay here again in the future!

Beautiful, clean, modern home on a quiet cul de sac that is so close to absolutely anything you could need. Right down the road from Jockey’s Ridge State Park. Five minute walk to the beach. There is a cute playground in walking distance as well. The sand underneath the house and sand hill in the back was perfect for the kids to play in as well! We would definitely stay there again! The only heads up I would give would be to plan on bringing or buying toilet paper, paper towels, dishwasher detergent etc. Can’t wait to go back!

Very nice house and very clean! A smart TV in every room which was really nice. The key pad on the front door acted up at one point and I was easily able to get ahold of the after hours customer service who was very helpful. Luckily the keypad ended up working. Thank you Kees!

Great Beach House!! New, located about a half mile from the beach, two kings beds and one bunk bedroom. It’s tucked in a cul de sac so it’s quite and safe. I’m pretty picky about my vacation homes and I recommend this one!
PS -Read carefully what the home includes and doesn’t include so you know what to bring.

Wonderful stay. Very clean. Private cul de sac location, but a quick walk to the beach and a central location to just about whatever else you’re looking for in the OBX area. There is a beach wagon and some chairs and we stocked some spices and salt and pepper for future guests. Plenty of cookware for use. Convenient outdoor shower to wash off the beach. Lovely outdoor area both beneath the home and on the small deck.

When visiting OBX, travelers would be well served to book with Kees. We stayed at the Salty Mermaid and the stay was great! This property will sleep at least 6 no problems and is complete with a room for kids with a twin/full bunk bed. Everything one would need is right there at your fingertips. The Salty Mermaid is great for families and others. Everything was clean and fresh. The home also comes equipped with and recreation area where the kids can play in the sand and it has a outdoor shower for rinsing the sand. The property is also equipped with a gas grill. Love this property!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful home within a 5 min walk to the beach. The beach wagon, beach chairs, grill and outdoor shower were a wonderful bonus! The house was one of the cleanest we've stayed in and the spacious living room and kitchen area were very convenient and comfortable for cooking and playing games. Communication was perfect as well!

We had a great long weekend at the salty mermaid. Very easy walk to beach and it felt like a quiet neighborhood but house was in a very convenient location to plenty of restaurants and activities. Friendly neighborhood and the cul-de-sac offered a safe place for our 3 and 5 year old boys to play. The house offered a great layout for our needs, was clean and equipped with the basics for our stay. We would recommend for small families and would stay again!

Home away from home!
This property was magnificent! It had all the amenities (except an iron, we looked everywhere. We found the ironing board, but no iron). Brand new construction with new floors, kitchen, and kitchen accessories. Beds and linens were crisp and new. They put a lot of money into this house and it shows. A quick 5 minute walk you were on the beach. A few turns in the car and you were back on the bypass or the beach road in no time. We will definitely stay here again.

great get away
My wife and I recently stayed the weekend here and everything was amazing. The house is decorated nicely and is open and spacious. We have two children but did not bring them this time around but plan to the next time we stay here. House is close to shopping and other attractions to do and is just a short walk away from the beach. Can't wait to return!
