K6401 Hatteras Retreat Oceanfront 7 Bedroom Home

Wonderful few days to take in Buxton, NC. Our first time in the outer banks as a family! It was a rainy weekend but the home offered us endless hours of family fun! I would definitely stay again! Kees was great with communicatinos!

We stayed at Hatteras Retreat. The house was amazing! Plenty of room for all 12 of us. Within driving distance to see the wild horses, some went skydiving, shopping was close by, pier fishing, and surf fishing were also enjoyed. Everyone had a great time. Kees was an email away asking how things were going and if we needed anything. If you emailed them there was always a prompt response.

I definitely would return. There was plenty of space for the entire family to move around. The house was spotless. It went beyond our expectations!

The house was wonderful, perfect for our group of 14. With a media room, pool and foosball tables, well-appointed kitchen, and the pool and beach right there, it was all we hoped for. The host responded quickly to a few inquiries during and after our stay. We look forward to returning!

The house and pool were wonderful - with lots of space for our large family - the beach was steps away, the management replied quickly and helpfully to any queries, we’re already taking about coming back next year!

This place is great for a large group that can split the cost. The pool is great for the kids and it is right on the beach. We had a great time and stayed an extra day. I would stay here again!

We had a great stay. The location was fantastic, the staff was very responsive and we had a great time! Truly appreciated and used the elevator. The furnishings showed wear, but were comfortable and functional. The kitchen was awesome and the two dishwashers were amazing to have! Thanks for a great time.

Christmas vacation
There were a few pieces of furniture that were very well worn or material torn. Spots on some of the carpet. Nothing that hendered our stay! The home is gorgeous and location is fabulous!! Would highly recommend this property! It is perfect for a family get together or multiple families!

Built tough/safe and sound
As title says the property is newer build compared to a lot of the homes around, we had our family reunion and everyone enjoyed everything and felt safe even through Tropical Storm Debbie hammered down on us, the home was quiet even with constant winds of 50 mph and gust even higher, I’m guessing it had hurricane windows since couldn’t hear storm hardly at all. Communication was quick in response with owners , property clean, and furnishings were nice and views were amazing from open concept living area to 5 out of 7 bedrooms ocean front with balcony access and 4 of them had en-suite. Only thing seen needs maintenance is carpets were stained in bedrooms, tile or wood would be a great change, and few of handles on faucet were loose, and for our visit the handicap accessible shower we couldn’t get water turn on, not sure what that was, but overall it was great experience

Location was wonderful! Just a short walk to the beach. Close to everything! The beach was never over crowded, but we did have people from the area walking by the house to get to the beach as well. So very peaceful! House was clean & was perfect for our big family! Cleaning crew was short staffed at the last minute and so we weren’t able to get into the house until about 6, but it was worth the wait. Great recommendations on local food. Would highly recommend Pop’s & Diamond Shoals to eat. Kees was very responsive and helpful! Our favorite week of the year!

We had a great stay here! The house was very big- a great size for 15 people. They had 2 of all the kitchen appliances which was awesome plus 2 washers/dryers. The view from the living room windows was amazing and there were more outside porch areas than I thought. A lot of stairs but the elevator worked well. The pool and hot tub worked great all week and someone came to do maintenance/check on levels. The only unexpected feature was a public beach access right next to the house. We went the 1st week of June so the traffic of people walking through wasn't too bad, but I could see there being a lot more foot traffic in the busier weeks- we made sure our cars were locked in the driveway and didn't leave anything on the side of the house. One other thing to note is the mosquitos were really bad. We made the mistake of leaving doors open the first day we got there, and gotten eaten alive at night and by the hot tube/pool area. But we would definitely stay there again!

Family get away
Had a large group of family from ages 8 months to 94 years old. House was wonderfully located and supplied everything we needed for a fantastic time! Just wish the pool was heated like the description said (visited in early May 2024). Loved our stay and hope to return soon!

Great place and getaway
Communication with the property was very good, they prompted any additional needs or next steps to make it easy as our trip approached. The house was very much as advertised, and had prior comments (couple exterior doors don’t lock), but outside of that, the views from the top floors are amazing, and the house did great during the coastal storms. We did not have any water pooling issues while most of the island did. It is a nice quick walk to the convenience stores and a number of restaurants and activities. Thanks for the stay!

Love Buxton on the beach!
We loved the location; Buxton has so much to offer, and there are several great restaurants and attractions nearby. We have been staying on the beach in Buxton for the past four years because of the fishing possibilities. When we checked in there was an issue with cleanliness, but the management sent their supervisor to take care it. She was very apologetic and efficient. We did have to contact the office to get the key code to check in, but after those two issues were resolved quickly, everything about the house was great.

Absolutely amazing location - the best view from any house that I've been to anywhere. Having a pool is such an added bonus to the ocean given how hot and humid it can get on the Outer Banks. I was nervous after reading previous reviews. Realize that the house itself is not perfect. Yes, certain areas are a little worn. Yes, there is tape over a glass table (not a big deal). Yes, there can be some bugs in the house (it's North Carolina in the summer folks). Yes, certain appliances aren't working. Despite all that, I would return here in a heartbeat. I can't think of a better place to stay on the East Coast - this is an incredible place.
