2024 on the Outer Banks

The Bodie Island Lighthouse will be open for climbing mid April- mid October 2024. Climbing tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for senior citizens (62 or older), children 11 years of age and under, and the disabled. Climb tickets are available on a first come, first served basis and can only be purchased from www.recreation.gov. Tickets go on sale at 7am for that day`s climbs only. Tickets may only be purchased on the same day of your intended climb.

2024 Season extends from March 16 - November 30
The Lighthouse and Museum Shop are open daily 9 AM – 5 PM
Open *weather permitting* – Closed for thunder, big storms, & Thanksgiving Day

Luke Street access is located on milepost 2.5 in Kitty Hawk and features gravel parking, portable toilets, sand access, and pet waste bags.

Wright Brothers National Memorial announces eight fee-free days in 2024.

• Tuesday, Jan. 15 - Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr.
• Saturday, Apr. 20 – First Day of National Park Week
• Sunday, Aug. 4 – Anniversary of the Great American Outdoors Act
• Tuesday, Aug. 19 – National Aviation Day
• Saturday, Sept. 28 – National Public Lands Day
• Tuesday, Nov. 11 – Veterans Day
• Tuesday, Dec. 17 – 120th anniversary of the Wright brothers` first flight
